Biography:

Stephanie started her career in architecture from the University of Hong Kong and received her Master of Architecture in the same school. She has recently completed her Master of Philosophy in Architecture and Urban Studies from the University of Cambridge, where she explored the use of film in relation to the socio-political "reality" embedded in the "fictional" narrative. Stephanie actively involves in teaching and research work. She focuses on urban scenographic experiences and social-political forces in shaping cities, and has investigated case studies in Paris, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Singapore. Stephanie also practices as an architectural designer, and her works cover commercial, institutional and private projects.

Biography:

Janina is the principal Research Associate of the 'CineMuseSpace: A Cinematic Musée Imaginaire of Spatial Cultural Differences' project and a Postdoctoral Affiliate and College Mentor at Newnham College. She is also a Research Associate of the GCRF-funded ‘CineGenus’ project that examines energy consumption patterns in Indian films.

She holds a PhD in Architecture from the University of Cambridge, which was funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council and focused on military simulations of urban spaces and populations. She was awarded a British Research Council Fellowship at the John W. Kluge Center of the Library of Congress in Washington, DC in 2015-2016 and a Camargo Foundation Fellowship in 2017. In 2018, she was a Visiting Scholar at the University of Nanjing.

Janina also works as a film and television producer on news and documentary films for ZDF German television in London. Her most recent projects include two primetime, feature-length documentaries. She has previously acquired varied work experiences in the media ranging from reviewing film scripts in the ARTE feature films office and creating stop motion animation films to assisting directors on soap opera, music and comedy television sets for Bavaria Film, RTL and Sat1.

Janina teaches various classes of the 2nd and 3rd year BA modules on architecture and the moving image and supervises and acts as advisor for a range of undergraduate and postgraduate theses.

She previously completed a BA in Film, Radio and Television Studies with First Class Honours at Canterbury Christ Church University and an MPhil in Screen Media and Cultures with Distinction at the University of Cambridge.

Biography:

Dramatist, screenwriter, interactive story architect and director Maureen Thomas is a Senior Artist Researcher at the Norwegian Film School where she was formerly Professor of Cinematurgy, Narrativity & Interactivity https://www.filmskolen.no/ansatte/bachelorstudier/4039/maureen-thomas. She has carried out her practice-oriented research into the spatial organisation of narrative, screen language and the cinematurgy of expressive space as a Senior Research Fellow (Screen Media and Cultures) Churchill College, Cambridge; Visiting Artist, Media Lab, Aalto University, Helsinki, Finland and Senior Creative Research Fellow, Narrativity Studio, Interactive Institute, University of Malmø, Sweden. She has a special interest in bringing intangible cultural heritage to historical sites, museums and galleries using reconfigurable and interactive digital audiovisual media (https://www.academia.edu/17277944/Transposing_Transforming_and_Transcending_Tradition_in_Creative_Digital_Media). With DIGIS, Maureen devised, directed and co-wrote, as part of the AHRC-funded ‘Cinematic Geographies of Battersea’ project, the GhostCinema app, using which visitors can discover as they walk the history of local buildings and cinemas, and download clips from films shot in the area which show their historical development and inhabitation (http://www.expressivespace.org/Ghost_Cinema.html).

For ‘CineMuseSpace’, Maureen is assisting with the selection and analysis of films, including establishing ontologies for the computer handling of clips, and with concept design and interaction with the CineMuseSpace material in exhibition spaces.
